The woman who gave me my first vintage dress.

One of the shows I went to when I was in nyc this summer. FUERZABRUTA was an amazing experience and the atmosphere was great. The stage was organic and all around the audience. It moved, it was above us at one point, behind, in front or next to us at another. The whole crowd danced to the music, while admiring the beauty of the dancers' movements. Here are some photos I took and a trailer of the show. If any of you get a chance, you should definitely go see it.

Before discovering Etsy, I used to sell on Ebay. Today, I got a message on Etsy and it was from a past customer from Ebay. She has found me! She also sent me a picture of her wearing the dress that she bought from me many months ago. The dress palette complimented so beautifully with that wall color and she looks absolutely adorable in it. Please send me pictures of yourself wearing dresses purchased from my store. I love seeing you guys happy and looking pretty in your new item. She also keeps a blog. I have gladly agreed to do a "Nine Questions to..." interview about my store. Stay tuned!

Winona Ryder wore this stunning vintage white beaded gown by Edward Sebesta in the Oscars 1994. It has left an impression on me since then. Last week's shopping, while rummaging through clothes and trying to calm my allergies to dust, I came across this mauve pink dress with an exquisitely crafted accordion pleated sleeve design. A closer look revealed the dress was designed by Edward Sebesta!

"And remember, the Oscars fall at an odd time on the fashion calendar, according to Rita Watnik, owner of Lily and Cie in Beverly Hills. "It comes right after the collections have shown, and rarely does a movie star look better in a dress than a model. Also, what's really great about vintage is that no one's seen it, nobody recognizes it." Watnick was the woman who heightened the vintage craze when she dressed Ryder for the 1994 Oscars in a long white beaded Edward Sebesta gown."

It's been a while. After a month and a bit of traveling and finishing all the piled up work from my vacation, I finally have some time to do some shopping for my store and update this blog. I found these amazing cowboy boots while I was in nyc. They are purple with multicolor woven leather strips design. I will definitely be wearing them a lot this winter. I got them in Marmalade Vintage (172 Ludlow St, New York NY 10002). Their clothes aren't too interesting but they have a nice shoes collection.

While on the way to get my work printed out today, I passed by one of my favorite streets. I have found all sorts treasures here before. The shops along this road mostly sell antique coins, furnitures, vintage electrical appliances, watches, old records, photographs and a lot of other knick-knacks. And, this is what I got today. It's a set of coaster crafted to resemble a miniature armoire . This little piece seems to be made of Indian rosewood and it still has a hint of the wood's aroma left. Isn't it adorable?

The typhoon no. 8 signal was taken down to a no. 3. Businesses were reopening. It was a good time to hurry out to finish some errands before 6pm. While I was standing at a crossing waiting for the light to turn green, it felt like I was being pushed by millions of little people from the back. The wind was not as vicious anymore, but it would definitely blew me over if I were a few pounds lighter.

Almost forgot about this one, another past piece that I love love love. Itsy bitsy vintage tube dress by Gianni Versace. I don't think Versace wanted anyone to sit while wearing this gorgeous dress. It is boned on both sides and falls just barely past my butt.

I love every piece I hand picked and I'm glad that their new owners are in love with them. But some, I have an extra hard time letting them go. These are a few of them I would like to share with you.

Can you guess what these gorgeous fabrics were made into?
Coming to TLTvintage next week!

I have walked past this store a million times. I never knew what it sold and I seldom see any customers. All I see are two old couple sitting in front of what seems like a bed of cotton fluff. Recently, I decided to find out what exactly is in this tiny warehouse/store. I found out what I referred as fluff before, are hand-embroidered and lace stocks that are more than half a century old. These garments, fabrics and all kinds of cloth related items are so exquisitely made. Aprons attached with Chinese tatting and bobbin lace, a tradition in China started by the Missionaries of the 1800's, silk chemises adorn with twisting vines, delicately woven pillowcases with roses embroidered on their scalloped hems. For a girl who loves all things vintage, it was as if I have found a little of heaven on earth.

Stunning apron and absolutely useless but pretty bread loaf cover.

No matter where she goes, my grandmother is always wearing a Chinese cheongsam. She always looked so beautiful and well groomed, oozing elegance from a time long forgotten and much treasured. She gave me one of the tailor made cheongsam she wore when she was at her 20s, that is when my love for vintage bloomed. Since then, I have developed an OCD with collecting vintage things.

After graduating from SVA with a graphic design degree and working for a few years in nyc, I decided to move back to Hong Kong. With clothes, flips clocks, old books and all kinds of gadgets I have collected through out the years that amounts to the size of a shipping container (yes the huge ones you see parked at docks), I realized it's impossible to bring them all home, so I decided to part with my collection through Ebay. It was such a fun process that I wanted to continue even after I returned to HK. And so, Treasured Little Things came into existence. Now, I hand pick vintage pieces mostly from the Japanese market. I can't get enough of their pretty prints and slinky fabrics. The concept of recycling and finding vintage pieces that are relevant to the latest trends, makes me feel that I'm helping the environment, however small the effort seems.

My 2 doxies love to pose in my pictures.
